WILLISTON — In an unusual discrepancy, a $2,000 contribution from the political action committee of House Majority Leader Roy Blunt shows up in federal records, but not in the recent campaign finance filing of Vermont Adjutant Gen. Martha Rainville, a potential Republican candidate for the U.S. House.
Rainville’s exploratory committee raised about $100,000 in 2005, most of it in the final three months of the year, according a report filed today with Federal Elections Commission.
The FEC website lists a $2,000 contribution from the Washington-based Rely on Your Beliefs Fund, on Oct. 21, 2005. Blunt, the fund’s chairman, has been loosely connected to the growing scandal involving uber-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who donated $8,500 to the committee between 1999-2003.
