BRATTLEBORO — Friday, Jan. 6, was the last time Frankie Niles saw his girlfriend, Tina Fontaine.
According to police reports, Fontaine, 29, bought cigarettes at Bob’s Quickstop in Irasburg. Then she disappeared. Two days later, her body was found in a shallow grave and Niles, 32, was later charged in connection with her death.
Niles confessed that he killed Fontaine after he overheard her on the phone telling a friend she was about to dump him, ending their six-month relationship, according to various press reports. He has pled not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder and is being held without bail, due in part to an extensive crime record in Massachusetts.
