Regulatory panel proposes stricter rules for wind farms

MONTPELIER — Another voice just joined the cacophonous debate over wind energy in Vermont — the state’s top regulatory panel.
State utility regulators issued a proposal Thursday that would establish more stringent requirements on the development of wind power than any other type of power generation.
The rule would require developers to assess the impact a wind turbine would have on the aesthetics of a region, as well as how it conforms to local and regional development plans.
