Getting down to business in the people’s house: Lawmakers face old issue in new session

When legislators make their way back to Montpelier in January, they will find that many of the key issues that bedeviled them last session remain unsolved.
They will also face increasing public pressure to act on several hot-button measures, including the Farmer Protection Act, the impact of the Vermont National Guard’s deployment, and civil commitment.
However, like many recent legislative sessions, budget talks and health care reform are likely to be the top issues that command the attention of the public, the press, and legislative leaders.
